Vanya Nordstrom Feind

Seated woman with riding crop and big hat.

Watercolor and graphite pencil, 10.5 x 7" signed lower left “Vanya Nordstrom Feind” and very faintly it looks like “to my dear friends the Campbells”.
The frame is recent, handmade, Mission oak with high craftsmanship.

Has faint pencil drawing of standing Cupid on verso.

Provenance: From collection of Louis Lundborg, president of Bank of America in the 1970s.

The artist had a brief career very early in the 20th century, and created a few Saturday Evening Post covers, which gave her name as “Anna” rather than “Vanya”. Given the giant hat, this drawing probably can be dated to 1907-09.
