In the early 1920s, Held's second wife Ada Johnson (known as ‘Johnnie’) set up a blacksmithing operation to make signs, and even created a catalogue. I believe the designs were his, and the fabrication hers.
Condition is good overall: areas of rusting have been stabilized. In 1996, David Reed restored the fourth directional bar and initial letters, which had corroded.
